In our Amazon we can find the best pharmacy provided by nature and no side effects or contraindications. A tree called Croton or Dragon's Blood or Sangre de Grado or Palo Sangriento grows there.
We have the first references of this Sangre de Grado tree from the Spanish explorer and naturalist J. Bernabé Cobo when he was travelling on American soil in 1600.
We all know the healing and anti-inflammatory properties of sangre de grado, but few know its great bactericidal property.
The usable part of the tree is the latex which is extracted through incisions in the bark of Croton adults between 10-12 years. The extracted latex has the consistency and color of our blood for which it is known as sangre de grado. Its scientific name is Croton Lechleri, it belongs to the Euphorbiceae and is located in South America in the Amazon Region. Its name comes from the Greek word Kroton which means tick.
HEALING AND ANTIINFLAMATORY PROPERTIES:
Studies carried out in the Universidad Cayetano Heredia in Peru say the Taspine alkaloid would be the main wound-healing component of the sangre de grado for external use.

In this healing and anti-inflammatory action of sangre de grado, in addition to the Taspine alkaloid would act other chemical derivatives of this latex, they would be proanthocyanins and polyphenols which are antioxidants.
In applying the sangre de grado on a wound in the right dose, the Taspine alkaloid promotes tissue regeneration of the wound by favoring the formation of collagen, the polyphenols would be responsible for removing the free radicals and proanthocyanins are responsible for stimulating wound contraction and scab formation.
It is also recognized sangre de grado’s cytostatic quality as in the proper concentration it can attack and shrink KB and V-79 tumors.
BACTERICIDAL PROPERTY:
1. In a study carried out by the University Cayetano Heredia on the sangre de grado as a bactericidal against the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, which causes 90% to 95% of duodenal ulcer and 60% to 80% of gastric ulcer, it has been shown that in sangre de grado’s high concentrations it can be inhibited the growth of the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, of which it is concluded that sangre de grado blood would have gastric ulcer healing abilities.
2. In a comparison of the antibacterial activity of sangre de grado against ampicillin, it was demonstrated that sangre de grado in a concentration of 1 / 1000 had better bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties that ampicillin does not.
3. Studies of the Universidad Cayetano Heredia conclude that the true antibacterial effect is achieved through the proper dosage of sangre de grado and that the higher grade of purity of the product, the better results obtained. A great benefit is that it is a low cost product with no adverse effects and high effectiveness.
